Montreal Canadiens icon goalie Carey Price may have performed well in the Stanley Cup Playoffs last season, but he is coming off knee surgery and could miss the start of the upcoming season.
Price has been left unprotected in the upcoming expansion draft by the Seattle Kraken and this can possibly spell the end of an era in Montreal.
The Vancouver British Columbia native may have had a successful career up to this point, but he’s been injured six times in his career. (Four of which have been season endings) Price missed the last four games of the 2011-12 season due to a concussion, he then missed the last game of the 2013 Stanley Cup Playoffs due to a groin injury, the Montreal goalie also suffered a torn ACL following a collision by Rangers forward Chris Kreider and then missed the tail-end of the 2014 Playoffs. Price then suffered an MCL that had him out for the majority of the 2015-16 season.
He then went down to a torn MCL in late October of the 2017-18 season, and was concussed following a slapshot by Philadelphia Flyers forward Claude Giroux in February that same year.
Regardless of these injuries, Price has posted a respectable 360-257-79 career record alongside 49 shutouts, a .917 save percentage and a 2.50 goals against average in 707 games played all with the Montreal Canadiens as well as an Olympic Gold Medalist and a banner year in 2014-15.
