Golden Knights’ Alec Martinez Played Through Broken Foot in Playoffs

Vegas Golden Knights defenseman Alec Martinez revealed that he played through the entire Stanley Cup Playoffs with a broken foot and he’s most likely going to undergo off-season surgery.

Martinez has been with the Knights since he was acquired by them from the Los Angeles Kings back in February of 2020 and his six year contract that he signed is set to expire this off-season.

The veteran defenseman led the Stanley Cup Playoffs with 72 blocked shots and that’s 20 more than fellow teammate Alex Pietrangelo.  Also, he potted six points in 19 post-season games including the game tying goal scored in Game 6 against the Montreal Canadiens.

The 33 year old native from Rochester Hills Michigan recorded 32 points in 53 regular-season games this past season, scoring at a career-best 0.60 points per game matching his record from 2015-2016.
