Maple Leafs Star Matthews To Miss Start Of Season

Toronto Maple Leafs superstar Auston Matthews is expected to miss the start of training camp for the Toronto Maple Leafs after having wrist surgery this past Friday.

The Scottsdale Arizona native is expected to be out of the Leafs lineup for a minimum of five weeks. Toronto did not specify which wrist Matthews had surgery on, but he dealt with a right wrist injury for most of last season.

On the plus side, he has scored 41 goals to go with 66 points in 52 games played last year. He also won the Maurice Rocket Richard Trophy as the leader in goals scored as well as earning a nomination for the Hart Memorial Trophy though he would lose to Connor McDavid.

In 334 games played, Auston Matthews has scored 199 goals, 152 assists and 351 points all with the Toronto Maple Leafs and he is one goal away from the 200th of his career.
